AfInMic - MSSA MICROSCOPY WORKSHOP 2020

The MSSA 2020 Workshop was hosted virtually by the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, from the 30th November – 3rd December 2020.
Based on the successes and learnings from the Southern African region, the AfInMic network extended the mandate to the whole of the African continent, conducting training in collaboration with leading African microscopy researchers as well as leading microscope instrument suppliers who form part of the network. This workshop was therefore aimed at both material and life sciences, catering for parallel sessions for sample preparation. In all the topics a researcher and trade representative gave a presentation. Topics covered includes Research Approach and Methodology in relation to microscopy, Sample preparation techniques for both SEM and TEM, Light microscopy, Laser Confocal Microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Spectroscopy Supporting techniques in relation to Microscopy (RAMAN & XRD), and some presentation skills. Just like the previous workshop, a pre workshop questionnaire was set out and the summarized in each topic presented. The workshop was hosted online due to Covid 19.
